The reality star says it was all a misunderstanding, but five charges say otherwise.

Another Chrisley is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Lindsie Chrisley, the eldest daughter of Todd Chrisley and a former cast member of the hit USA Network reality show "Chrisley Knows Best," was arrested in Cherokee County, Georgia, over Memorial Day weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence. But the DUI charge was just the beginning. Officers slapped her with four additional charges that paint a picture of a chaotic Saturday night in the suburbs north of Atlanta.

Five Charges in One Night

According to jail records from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Lindsie was pulled over late Saturday night, May 24, 2026, and booked on the following charges: driving under the influence, attempting to elude police, improper passing, reckless driving, and speeding. That is a lot of charges for what Lindsie says started with an animal crossing the road.

The 36-year-old was taken into custody and processed at the Cherokee County jail. Her bond was set at $5,961 across all five charges, which she paid quickly. She walked out in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 25. But for someone whose family has spent the better part of the last four years tangled up in courtrooms and prison cells, even a few hours in a Georgia jail is a bad look.

Lindsie's Side of the Story

Lindsie didn't wait long to share her version of events. In a statement to TMZ, she said the whole thing started because she swerved to avoid an animal. Her exact words: "I got pulled over speeding past a car on a two lane road because they almost hit an animal and I was trying to miss hitting them and whatever the animal was."

She also made it clear she has no intention of quietly accepting the charges. She told reporters she plans to fight every single one of them. If that sounds familiar, contesting law enforcement is something of a Chrisley family tradition at this point.

Now, whether you buy the "swerving to dodge an animal" explanation is up to you. Plenty of people have used that line before. But there are also plenty of late night two-lane roads in Cherokee County where a deer or raccoon darting across the pavement is completely plausible. The problem for Lindsie is that the cops apparently saw enough to justify not just a speeding ticket, but a DUI charge and an allegation that she tried to flee.

What "DUI Less Safe" Actually Means

Here is a detail that a lot of people miss when reading these headlines. Lindsie was charged with what Georgia law calls "DUI Less Safe." That is a specific legal classification, and it is different from the standard DUI charge most people picture. A DUI Less Safe charge does not require a blood alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08%. Instead, it is based on the officer's assessment that the driver was impaired enough to be a danger on the road.

That means the prosecution does not need to prove Lindsie blew over a 0.08. They just need to convince a judge or jury that, based on her behavior, her driving, and her performance on any field sobriety tests, she was not safe to be behind the wheel. This can include swerving, erratic speed changes, slurred speech, or difficulty following instructions during a traffic stop. It gives prosecutors more flexibility, but it also gives the defense more room to argue. If Lindsie's lawyers are good (and you can bet the Chrisleys will hire good lawyers), they will challenge every piece of the officer's testimony.

The "Attempting to Elude" Charge Is the Bigger Problem

Honestly, the DUI charge might not even be the most serious thing Lindsie is facing. That "attempting to elude" charge is no joke. In Georgia, evading or attempting to elude a police officer during a traffic stop can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the circumstances. If the state pushes for a felony charge, Lindsie could be looking at real consequences that go beyond a fine and some community service.

The specifics of what happened between the moment officers turned on their lights and the moment Lindsie actually pulled over have not been made public yet. Did she speed up? Did she keep driving for a mile before stopping? Did she simply hesitate before pulling to the shoulder? Those details matter a lot, and they will likely determine whether this charge sticks or gets negotiated down.

A Very Rough Spring for Lindsie

This Memorial Day weekend arrest did not come out of nowhere. Lindsie has been dealing with a messy and very public breakup with her ex-boyfriend, David Landsman, and it turned ugly fast. Back in April 2026, Landsman was arrested in Woodstock, Georgia, and booked on a charge of aggravated assault by strangulation.

Both sides told very different stories about what happened that night. In a 911 call obtained by TMZ, Landsman told the dispatcher that Lindsie had punched him and then fled the scene in her Lexus. He asked police to come document his injuries. Lindsie, on the other hand, alleged that Landsman choked and strangled her during the altercation. Landsman was the one who ended up getting arrested and charged.

Following that incident, the two agreed to a mutual no-contact order that requires both parties to stay at least 500 yards away from each other, their homes, and their workplaces. That order is in effect through May 2027. So Lindsie has been dealing with the fallout of a violent breakup, a restraining order situation, and now a DUI arrest, all within about six weeks.

The Chrisleys and the Law: A Long History

It is almost impossible to talk about Lindsie's arrest without mentioning the enormous legal cloud that has hung over the Chrisley family for years. Her father Todd and stepmother Julie were convicted in June 2022 on charges of bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. Prosecutors said the couple took out millions of dollars in fraudulent bank loans and then hid their income from tax authorities so they could keep living the extravagant lifestyle the show made famous. Todd was sentenced to 12 years. Julie got seven.

Then, in May 2025, President Donald Trump pardoned both of them. They walked out of prison and, remarkably, landed right back on television. Todd and Julie appeared as contestants on Season 14 of The Masked Singer earlier this year, performing as "Croissants." They were eliminated in the premiere but still managed to generate a ton of buzz. The Chrisleys have always known how to stay in the spotlight. Whether that is a good thing is debatable.

And Lindsie's brother Kyle has had his own run-ins. In December 2025, the 34-year-old was arrested in Tennessee on charges including domestic assault, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and three counts related to assaulting a first responder and resisting arrest. That is six charges in one night for Kyle, which actually beats Lindsie's five.

What Lindsie Faces Going Forward

If convicted on the DUI charge in Georgia, even as a first-time offender, Lindsie is looking at a minimum fine of $300, up to a year of license suspension, 40 hours of community service, mandatory completion of a DUI Risk Reduction Program, and probation. Most first-time offenders avoid actual jail time, but the judge has the discretion to impose up to a year behind bars.

The financial hit goes well beyond the courtroom fine, too. When you add up attorney fees, increased insurance premiums, DUI school costs, license reinstatement fees, and potential lost income, the total cost of a first-offense DUI in Georgia can easily land somewhere between $10,000 and $25,000. For someone with Chrisley money (or whatever is left of it after years of legal battles), that might not sting as badly as it would for the average person. But it is still a serious matter.

Georgia also does not allow most DUI convictions to be expunged. If Lindsie is found guilty, that conviction stays on her criminal record permanently. It will show up on background checks for the rest of her life. For a reality TV personality who has pivoted to podcasting and digital media, a permanent criminal record adds another complication to an already complicated public image.

Where Things Stand Now

Lindsie is out on bond and has publicly stated she will fight the charges. No court date has been announced yet, and the details of the traffic stop, including any dashcam or bodycam footage, have not been released. Those recordings, if they exist, will likely be the most important pieces of evidence in determining whether the DUI and eluding charges hold up.

For now, Lindsie Chrisley joins the growing list of Chrisley family members who have spent time in a Georgia jail. Her father and stepmother served time in federal prison. Her brother was arrested in Tennessee. Her ex-boyfriend was arrested on a strangulation charge. And now Lindsie herself has a mugshot on file at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

The family that once made millions by letting cameras into their living room keeps giving America reasons to watch, just not in the way they probably hoped. Whether Lindsie beats these charges or not, the Chrisley family's relationship with the legal system shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.
